Toe2Toe Tuesday Herring Flores Fight Report

Bethlehem Pennsylvania and the Sands Event Center would host Premier Boxing Champions Toe 2 Toe Tuesday. Broadcast on FS1, the main event was billed as the debut of former Olympian Jamel Herring on PBC. His counterpart Luis Flores was making a debut of his own on US soil with hopes of entertaining the crowd by raining on the Jamel Herring parade. Danny Garcia provided the color commentary with visits from Adrien Broner and Travis Kauffman.

Main Event

Jamel Herring vs. Luis Flores Lightweight 10rd

Herring showed his Olympic background early as he added up combinations on Flores and would slip his steady aggression. Flores would be correctly identified by Herrings corner as looking for the knockout because each shot he threw would be with intent. Still, Herring managed to place Flores on the canvas twice in the 5th and began to turn up the pressure on Flores with body shots thru the 7th. The will of Flores seemed to diminish as the match waned. Herring, on top of his game all night, pitched almost a perfect game by going to the cards and winning via unanimous decision. Herring remains undefeated and improves to 15-0.

Undercard

Raynell Williams vs. Gabriel Tolmajyan Lightweight 8rd

Williams and Tolmajyan both seemed unwilling to commit as the fight started. It was as if both fighters gameplan was to counter rather than initiate an engagement. The only difference between them was Williams connection rate. William would land his counters and combinations while Tolmajyan would miss his. The corner of Tolmajyan would beg him to come forward but he would remain reposed. Only in the last 90 seconds would Tolmajyan change his strategy after he caught Williams clean with a left. Still it was too little too late as Williams would find his legs and stand the final minute. Williams remained undefeated and improves to 11-0 via unanimous decision.

Alex Martin vs Rosemberg Gomez Welterweight 8rd

It was a straight jab and hook that Martin would use on a defensive Gomez in the opening rounds. Martin picked his shots and evaded any type of offense Gomez could produce. Gomez was staggered at the end of the 4th, but continued on even catching the somewhat clean Martin occasionally. However, the face of Gomez displayed the punishment of being repeatedly landed on by hooks and straight jabs. Gomez would last the fight but that is all. Alex Martin wins via UD and improves to 12-0.
